Why Disney WHY?!

If you didn't already know, I hate the Disney corporation. My beef is not just one, but multiple things, starting off with pretty much everything that the do is either stolen from some other people from a long time ago or stolen out of the hands of the creators. A perfect example of this is the LION KING, yea the Mother F***ing Lion King. You thought it was based on Hamlet or something along those lines then your wrongly mistake, take a look here. But thats not all on my recent research paper i talked about how Disney messes with the minds children, but changing there perception of parent-child relationships. to make things short in all their movies why is the adult the villain... you tell me. Lastly whats with all the movies having sexual pictures and characters saying swears idk, like i said before you tell me. heres a few you should see if you haven't already

Come On Warner Bros...

As you can see from the title of this article i'm not to pleased with the Warner Brothers corporation *wait for unexpected gasps.* Ok, take a breather and then read what I have to say. Whats with the ghetto cartoon characters on people shirts, I mean that has to be the stupidest shirt, coat, shoe, what ever the hell your wearing its stupid. Why would anyone wear a shirt with the a ghetto Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck, I mean you look like the dumbest thing you could possible wear, and their not cheap shirts either, click here. I walk by people on campus occasionally wearing clothes like this and I automatically want to give them a V8 slap to the forehead.
This is just me but yea your not cool and shame on Warner Brothers for giving out rights to do this. We all get that you want people to remember looney tunes and everything, but just give it up their for kids not adults leave it that way.

Is Little Red Sexy Now?

Little Red Riding Hood, what cant be said about it, a tale of a little girl going to her grandmothers house only to find a wolf in her bed, ready to eat her. Well Warner Bros. did have a little more to add, putting sexuality into the iconic tale. They made her sexy with her red cloak with a love interest in a town burdened by a werewolf, ready to kill anyone on a full moon. Well thats not all that they did, they added a twist ending, and if you have not seen this movie i advise you to stop reading now cause i have a SPOILER ALERT: the werewolf is the father of Red Riding Hood.
Personally this movie did not appeal to me with its bad acting along with its advancing story line from what we hear when we are a child. Although one thing I did like is the fact that they used the original tales from two hundred years ago. They put in Red Riding Hood eating her grandmother in a stew, along with putting rocks in the belly of the wolf. Other than that this the movie did not appeal to my taste in movie at all.

Giambattista Basile Profile

'classy with a touch of sophistication'

There are three parts to the life of Giambattista Basile, the man, the legend, the predecessor.  Basile, like many other children's authors of the 16th century, had other jobs that he was well known for by the people around him. He was part of the Venetian army where he was appointed as a courtier for his ability to write and express his literature in fine detail to the dukes and higher royalty of Italy.  Basile had the ability to express all the cunning, mysticism, and twisted romance that can be seen in his later works.  As Basile was performing his final services to his military, he began thinking about a career in politics.  This led him to the courts of Gonzaga in Mantua. Little known about his time in the judicial part of Basile’s life but, but what can be said is that he began to take an interest in the people and their Neapolitan culture.
As Basile moved up in society from soldier to his works in the judiciary system, he set his eyes on something a little higher. Already known in the political world, Basile decided to run for governor of some neighboring states around Naples. While doing so, he began to see the Neapolitan society reach out towards him, bringing him in closer toward its wonderful culture that he had so fondly been idle in before. He began to see that Naples was a writers paradise with its “natural heritage of the popular memory, the tradition of the fable and the element of magic that sets it apart from others” (Cicciotti).  Basile became engulfed by folklore and fairytales of not only Naples but the neighboring cities as well. This was not only pertinent in how Basile lived out the rest of his days, but also be came apparent in his book, Cunti Lo Cunto de li, or “A Tale of Tales.” Although Basile’s book might never had been published if it were not for his sister Adriana, who and taken it to a publisher after Basile’s death.  It portray’s a society so deep in culture and character that it can sometimes be to much to read in one sitting. Basile believed so as well and broke it up into five days of reading, each day revealing a valuable moral.
Basile was the predecessor to most of the fairytales we read today, taking the folklore of local Neapolitan’s and making them his own. Some the stories that were influenced by Basile include; Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Puss in Boots, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast as well as many others. Basile’s stories often features a large amount of “adult content” in the stories, ranging from “Cinderella” standing up against her stepmother and killing her, to “Sleeping Beauty” being raped in a barn. Basile sought that this collection “of which implies an intended audience of children,” and is meant to persuade a child “with an abundant use of absurd situations of an extremely structures language in it constant playfulness.” (Marrone 137)
Basile’s elicit stories which some might like to hear, were sometimes very brutal and violent making later authors rethink and rewrite Basile’s masterpiece. Some might call it shameful for what they had done to the stories.  However, others might disagree and believe that times are changing and telling a story about sex and violence might not be appropriate content for a young, and impressionable child.  Basile gives the harsh truth in his books which make them so enticing to adults often showing the true side to human nature.

Reader Response: The Company of Wolves

I thought this story had very good visual representation, for example the first paragraph of the story,  she describes what a wolf looks like at midnight. The way she portrays the eyes of the wolfs seem to show how evil they are rather than good, which is contrary to popular belief in the media today. These wolves seem to have a  mean streak of sneaking into peoples homes killing them and their livestock. Another strange thing is that she goes along the idea that these are not simply wolves but in fact were-wolves which seems to be the trend in the media right now, like Jacob in the Twilight saga. Twilight is the new sensation for adolescent girls across the nation, for a trailer for their movies click here. Angela Carter continues to stick with this trend, continuing with the familiarity of the new movie coming out entitled, Red Riding Hood, where the beast begins to pray on a young girl to where she begins to fall in love with the beast. although this beast seems only to be enticed b the fact that he is going to get a delicious meal, and the promise of something a little more than a “kiss” from red riding hood. If you'd like to see another trailer to a ridiculous movie which seems unappealing to all men click here.
This seems to be just as messed up as the other stories in the class, where the wolf eats the grandmother, and somehow has sex with the granddaughter. Somehow the wolf will aways win, which i think is opposite to how fairytales should go, where the wolf is slain and little red riding hood is not killed or has sex with the wolf. I feel that this happens in just about every little red riding hood except for the ones made recently into cartoon form and put on TV for children to watch. Overall I am now not a fan of any Little Red Riding stories and do not plan on changing my mind in the near future.
