Reader Response: The Company of Wolves

I thought this story had very good visual representation, for example the first paragraph of the story,  she describes what a wolf looks like at midnight. The way she portrays the eyes of the wolfs seem to show how evil they are rather than good, which is contrary to popular belief in the media today. These wolves seem to have a  mean streak of sneaking into peoples homes killing them and their livestock. Another strange thing is that she goes along the idea that these are not simply wolves but in fact were-wolves which seems to be the trend in the media right now, like Jacob in the Twilight saga. Twilight is the new sensation for adolescent girls across the nation, for a trailer for their movies click here. Angela Carter continues to stick with this trend, continuing with the familiarity of the new movie coming out entitled, Red Riding Hood, where the beast begins to pray on a young girl to where she begins to fall in love with the beast. although this beast seems only to be enticed b the fact that he is going to get a delicious meal, and the promise of something a little more than a “kiss” from red riding hood. If you'd like to see another trailer to a ridiculous movie which seems unappealing to all men click here.
This seems to be just as messed up as the other stories in the class, where the wolf eats the grandmother, and somehow has sex with the granddaughter. Somehow the wolf will aways win, which i think is opposite to how fairytales should go, where the wolf is slain and little red riding hood is not killed or has sex with the wolf. I feel that this happens in just about every little red riding hood except for the ones made recently into cartoon form and put on TV for children to watch. Overall I am now not a fan of any Little Red Riding stories and do not plan on changing my mind in the near future.
